Active Charity and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and
Active Charity works to support causes focusing on local issues benefiting children. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of Type1 Diabetes from people’s lives.
Bill is a generous benefactor of his time and resources working closely with Active Charity in their efforts to raise money for JDRF.

Bay Area Outreach Recreation Program (BORP)
Advances the lives of people with physical disabilities through sports and recreational disabilities.
Josh joined the BORP wheelchair basketball team in 1986 and played for nine years including tournaments in Minnesota, Oklahoma and Texas.

Computer Technologies Program (CTP)
The Computer Technologies Program’s mission is to broaden employment opportunities for people with disabilities by providing training in Information Technologies, self-marketing strategies and advocacy in partnership with the business and rehabilitation communities.
Don has worked with and supported Neil Jacobsen, who co-founded CTP in 1975, for over 25 years.

Disabled Sports USA
Adaptive Sports and Recreation for people with disabilities.
Through Disabled Sports USA Josh has been snow skiing, jet skiing, camping, white water rafting, adaptive cycling and boating. His favorite is the annual three day 4WD trip on the Rubicon Trail in the Sierra Nevada’s.

Futures Explored, Inc.
Provides life skills and work-related training to adults with developmental disabilities.
Josh has received supported employment services since 2001. Futures Explored acts as a liaison with his employer, helps with training on new procedures and provides weekly general support.

Full Circle of Choices
Independent living support allowing people with developmental disabilities the opportunity to live on their own in their community.
Josh has received Independent Living Skills support twice a week since 2000. Full Circle of Choices helps with laundry, shopping, cooking, paying bills, managing money, medical appointments and prescriptions.

Joni and Friends – International Disability Center
Joni and Friends began in 1979 and is devoted to developing Christ-centered programs and services that help meet the spiritual and practical needs of disabled people and their families including the distribution of wheelchairs worldwide to people affected by disability.
If you have a used wheelchair that can be refurbished and used again, the Joni and Friends website will provide information on where you can drop off the wheelchair in your area.  They will then restore the wheelchair to like-new condition and deliver it to someone in need around the world.  This is a great organization and a great way to re-purpose your used wheelchair.

Pleasanton Partners in Education (PPIE)
PPIE has worked to enhance education throughout the Pleasanton Unified School District through a partnership of business, education and community.
Bill is a Board Member of PPIE and has been involved with many corporate giving initiatives and fundraising events.

Resources, Education, Activities, Community and Housing (REACH)
REACH is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities in the Tri-Valley. Their mission is to provide resources, education, activities, community participation and housing opportunities that will enable adults with developmental challenges to live full and independent lives.
Don and Bill have provided services and ‘sweat equity’ to REACH and Josh has several friends who live in homes provided by REACH.

Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation
ARF saves dogs and cats who have run out of time at public shelters and brings people and animals together to enrich each others lives.
Bill has been involved with this charity for several years.

United Cerebral Palsy of the Golden Gate
Provides and facilitates services and resources to empower people with disabilities to be independent and achieve total integration into their communities.
Don is past president of the Board of Directors of United Cerebral Palsy of the Golden Gate.

World Institute on Disability (WID)
Mission is to eliminate barriers worldwide to full social integration and increase employment, economic security and health care for persons with disabilities. WID creates innovative programs and tools; conducts research, training, public education and advocacy campaigns; and provides technical assistance.
Don works closely with Neil Jacobson, WID Board member and co-developer of WID’s Center on Economic Growth.
